Diary of the Dead Official Trailer
Though the staff here normally sticks to strictly informational posts, and attempts to refrain from reviewing Hollywood’s attempt at informing the public about the pending zombie outbreak, it is difficult to argue against posting a George A. Romero project. Many consider his projects more documentaries than fiction as he has an uncanny insight into the realm of the undead.
Of note in the trailer, is the comment “I think it is time to leave this place.” Which could spark debate about your zombie plan and how and when going mobile would be the best idea. We would love to hear your opinions about the trailer and what type of world we might find ourselves in after the attack.

To “mobilize” yourself during an attack, exposes many vulnerabilities. I would prefer to stay in a fortified area, unless there is no other choice but to move to another site for protection, or lack of food/resources, etc.

I still dont think staying in 1 spot is a good idea, like on the other posts people are saying making there home there base then go mobil only if they have to. by that time it would be to late. there would be to many of them. but ya this movie looks good

Given a proper, fortified and sustainable area….stay put.
If necessary, only if no other action is feasible, go mobile.
Film it? Depends on the resolution my .45 uses.
My thoughts on the trailer? I’ll be paying to see this in the theater.

I think that a mobile primary zombie plan would be cost prohibitive in terms of resources. I don’t think a mobile plan is something one family can maintain and implement in an orderly fashion when necessary. Too many variables. Which vehicle are you going to use? Is it even at home when you need it? Do you need to fortify it or are you going to drive it around pre-fortified until the zombies attack? Whose packing? Are they even home, alive, zombified? What if travel isn’t an immediate option because of an overzealous military acting out martial law? Now you need to stay home and fortify and the best you can do is of a secondary nature with seconday resources.
I think it’s much easier to stockpile resources for fortification in the home. The secondary plan should include flexibility for if it’s necessary to bug out.
Of course, this is under the assumption you have a good place to fortify. Ground level apartments in the city probably suck. I’ve got a semi-rural area on top of a hill with one half of the basement having 4 walls of cement plus two floors and an attic. I’ve got tons of shelves in the basement made of lumber that can be quickly dismantled and used to fortify the ground level. There’s food, weapons, and fortification material here, why wouldn’t staying put be my primary option?

I don’t think they start their migration once they initially see the zeds, a common trick that trailers use to create hype is to use lines that give the viewer a general idea of the plot, most of the time they’re completely out of context.
There may be a point in the film where they decide to go mobile during an attack, but there’s little or no guarantee that t actually happens.
I think the real discussion we should be having about this clip is: If the main characters are into film, do they have previous knowledge via film? (i.e. other Romero movies)

That would be interesting, a bunch of guys whom have seen countless Zombie flicks trying to survive the outbreak.
Tell you what, when I land my major Hollywood zombie deal I will mention ZAC by name in the movie! I might even make fun of Splint by name, you know, just cause I can. And then near the end he will do a cameo as the leader of a super prepared group holed up on a college campus.

hoy. first time poster.
awesome trailer!
personally, i think the best time to get te f**k out of town is when you realize the dead really are reanimating.

I’ll bite Will, where do you plan on heading out to? I live in a small to medium sized city (depending on if College is in or not) and I plan on staying put.
With half of our school year population not being from here plus all of the other people who want to head out I will let them flee and help desert my city.
With the preparations I have in place I really like my odds on a stand.

there is no way I could stay put. there are to many people around me. plus there are 3 grave yards by me. ( within 2 blocks)

Toebo23, …. Run!

I plan to be on the road as fast as humanly possible, just because all of my fellow zombie slayers are 300 miles away, afterwards we would make runs on local convenenience stores and super centers, using high powered rifles and fully auto weaponry, to disperse the dead, then we would barricade ourselves inside of there apartment, which is an upper floor apartment, and bunker down, using wenabago as our escape vehicle……….which we would have story in the garage…………..great defense, no way up the stairs and two stories of the ground, and a hefty way out

Living in a costal town in southwest england id have to go mobile at some point, but thats after everythings died down. reason no.1 not to go mobile immediatley is because of all the confusion, choked roads leading out of town, and i figure thered be some sort of military barricade shooting anyone that tries to leave (since this is likely one of the first place in the UK to be infected), if they dont bomb the whole thing just to make sure (one reason to get the hell out).
eventually the food would run out though, so i’d go mobile with whatever group i had (strictly only those that can look after themselves, no pregnant women, old people or those that refuse to put a crowbar through a zeds head as they endanger the whole group) in a number of police vans (the ones with those steel grills over the windows) so that if the undead get in one vehicle it doesnt risk everyone.
the ideal place to find would be a large farm house near a town by a hydroelectric damn (if those would still be working). rip off the roof replace it with glass and grow food there via hydroponics. build a large perimeter wall. and cover the area with traps (snares, tripwire activated crossbows, infrared sensors etc). and get some of those electronic lego bricks and hook them up for motion sensing sentry guns.
