I'll take it! There is a lot of debate going on about this topic. If it were me, I'll choose that gun as a secondary gun.

A small metallic object going faster than the rate of sound into your head will diffidently put you down, zombie or not. It's all about damaging the brain. It's not like you need a machine gun with thousands of clips of ammo. It's not like you're shooting their bodies.

Gllocks have a very good reputation for dependability and serviceability- you may not win any target shooting competitions but alot of shooting masters like Massad Ayoob like them and that's good enough for me- iMy favorite is the M1911A1 also, but I wouldn't throw away a good glock either

Glock's are OK, but people like them mostly because of how they look and because of the companies PR. They are the "sexy" pistol. There are numerous handguns as reliable, in fact most modern firearms from the big manufacturers are.

For myself I'm a 1911 guy, and I'll put my Kimber up against any Glock for reliability, toughness, accuracy or any other measure.

Plus, a 1911 is very easy to work on, and they are everywhere, parts are easy to find, and mostly interchangeable.

Well, you prob dont need alot of mags if its a secondary weapon since it's there only if your primary is down temporarily or you are in a position where it isnt feasable to use the long gun. I have fired both the MK23 and the USP and theyr'e not accurate at all. Might be just the examples I shot, but they are so unpopular with fighting men, that they are extremely rare in the field. Glocks, 1911's, M92's, and sig 226 are the most common. All way better than the hk's. The M23 is huge and clunky and feels terrible to the hand, with all that gritty sharp plastic.

personally my opinion for a good hand gun is the mk23 .45 by Heckler and Koch. It easily accomodates the Knight's suppressor that I have seen but it also comes in a cartridge that is A easy to find B decently accurate and C my cousin is a Navy SEAL he uses it and all he does is praise it, what other opinion do you need besides a man who has it loves it and uses it as his sidearm in the phillipines and afghanistan

Handguns are used to fight to long guns. Period. The idea of having only one gun is frightining but having that one gun be a pistol is something that i would not want to face. In the world of war there is a saying "Two is one and one is none" If you do however decide to carry a rifle and pistol then you can not go wrong with a Glock. Just have plenty of magazines and you will be fine. You might want to take that new gun to a range and shoot it before the zombie masses attack you and your family. Learning on the fly just does not "fly". In any case..........................CHEERS

To clarify the Glock incident;
Some dope loaded a 9mm into a mag otherwise loaded with and intended for a larger caliber. when the gun cycled the 9mm it went completely into the chamber an did not fire when the shooter pulled the trigger, so the shooter racked the slide (loading anther cartridge immediately behind the 9mm) and tried again.
The barrel burst and split the slide and launched downrange. Strangely the shooter only bruised his hands.
I saw this almost happen top a 40 S&W MP5 once also but a range officer saw it coming and called a cease fire before the guy tried shooting again.

Good point. Ever seen a 9mm go off inside a 10mm barrel? (It might have been a .45 barrel, wasn't me or my gun thankfully.) Just about the only way to quickly and unintentionally shut down a Glock.
As for .22s, I've said before that I don't think they convey enough impact for much. Yes, they work on people as the Angryvikingman points out, and I've seen a lot of deer dropped by poachers with .22s, but any hunter or armed professional should realize the inefficiency and lack of reliability of .22s compared to .30 calibers. Not to mention reloadability, current ammo availability or the reliability of the rimfire in general.

MEH... any of the midrange priced handguns from a major manufacturer in a common calliber, at least the size of 9mm makarov, and no larger than a .44 magnum will be just as good as any other. It's all personal choice, or whatever you find lying around if you don't already own one. I prefer a 1911 in .45, but that's just me. I don't expect everyone to like it. The Glock is fine and is effective and popular. Just make sure if your'e scrounging ammo off of bodies that you don't just jam one Glock mag into any Glock pistol- it might fit but have the wrong caliber bullet. Just something to think about since all the mags and guns that Glock makes look so similar.

I've got only one thing against semi auto's. You loose your empties.
With a revolver you can at least dump em in your hand and pocket them for reloading. Revolvers are less fussy about ammo, with practice you can reload pretty quick with speed loaders, remember , Zac ain't shooting back.
