Zombie Playlist

The difference between the living and the undead is the heart that beats inside of us all. What also makes us different from them is what keeps that heart beating and us moving, moving to end there existence.
Music gives people an outlet for a number of emotions and ideas. It, in a word is a catharsis. Music can inspire and move us. Most everyone can recall the emotion that music can give to a scene in a movie that, without that music, would have been bland and unmoving. It calls to us, and makes us want to feel alive.
My challenge to you, the reader, is to give me a list of songs that you would either listen to during the zombie apocalypse, or songs that you associate with it. Put, bluntly, songs that you could kill zombies to.
The list should be
1 Prep song: A song that you would play while gearing up.
1 Role out song: Kind of self explanatory there, song that gets you pumped when you go outside the wire, into their land.
3 Zombie killing songs
And finally
1 Death song: We all got to die sometime, what are they playing at your funeral.
Don’t let the list limit you though, if you are one of the true psychos, like myself, and have an, actual zombie playlist on your computer or personal music player then by all means let us know.

3. Zombie Killing Songs:

Hmm.
Prep-Maybe a mix of upbeat, happy reggae steel drum stuff, give it all a “don’t worry, be happy” attitude? Kind of incongruous I guess, but fun.
Roll Out-Karn Evil 9 by ELP
Killing- Mostly ACDC and Black Sabbath, good violent music from my youth.
Death-Sgt. MacKenzie-gotta have bagpipes for death.
Best I could come up with on short notice.
Semper Cogitant on 25 Apr 2010 at 8:08 pm #
I know I didn’t pick three specific songs for the killing, so If I had to it’d be:
Shoot to Thrill
Iron Man
Highway to Hell
Hopefully killing zombies would last longer than that though…

- The final countdown – Europe
- Living on a prayer – Bon jovi
- Eye of the tiger – Survivor
- Don’t stop me now – Queen

It’s a wierd mix, but they’re all really good at getting me psyched up.

For Whom The Bells Toll.. By Metallica. I think that was in the beginning of Zombie land ..?
McLuvin on 27 Apr 2010 at 2:07 am #
I won’t be listening to music. I will be listening for zombies shuffling up behind me while I scavenge weapons and supplies from your corpses.
Semper Cogitant on 27 Apr 2010 at 2:19 am #
Excellent point McLuvin, though I was thinking more in terms of a soundtrack. The idea of going into combat wearing an ipod or something is absurd weather you enemy is living or dead.
Thunderhawk on 27 Apr 2010 at 3:24 pm #
Hey everyone I just found this site a few days ago so this is my first comment but i already have a pretty good zombie killing playlist already so here it goes
1. Cemetery gates – Pantera
2. Cowboys from hell – Pantera
3. Super charger heaven, El phantasmo and the chicken run blast-o-rama, More human than human and Blood milk & sky – White zombie
Primal concrete sledge, Walk and Heresy – Pantera
4. the death song, for this one i would choose Fade to black – Metallica
vulgardisplayofpower on 28 Apr 2010 at 12:34 am #
Very true. Yeah I would say the adrenaline and killer insticts would be flowing without the help of any music.. though it is medicine for the soul and might put a smile to your face amidst the carnage. lol.
The Doctor on 28 Apr 2010 at 10:08 pm #
1 Prep song: Walk the Line – Johnny Cash
1 Role out song: Paper Wings – Rise Against
3 Zombie killing songs: Beethoven – Fur Elise, Snow – Chili Peppers, Jumper – Third eye blind
1 Death song: Hero – Foo Fighters
Odd assortment of music there…

ummm, my response has been pending moderation for 5 days now :P
Was it that shocking? LOL
Angryvikingman on 29 Apr 2010 at 9:59 am #
Was it full of links? Sometimes that makes it take forever. Sometimes I cant even approve them.
Angryvikingman on 29 Apr 2010 at 11:54 am #
Yeah, sorry, I can’t approve it, dont have the option. Must be a higher lvl Admin for that.
Kain - ZAC Weapon Consultant on 29 Apr 2010 at 10:54 pm #
Yeah, ZAC Admin is the only one who can approve comments, and anything with a link, even from me or Angryvikingman gets held for approval, which is kind of stupid in a number of ways. I’ve been lobbying for full admin abilities from time to time just so that I can carpet approve anything. Hell I can’t even approve a comment made on my own articles, however, I can delete and edit comments. So If I don’t like you I can dump your comment, or make you proclaim that you are a f-ing fairy, but I can’t approve your comment for public consumption, regardless of what it says. Welcome to bureaucracy.

A.S.U on 14 May 2010 at 3:13 pm #
Music is a good idea, in my opinion. I’m talking to you McLuvin. There’s a reason that the army plays heavy metal on their way into a town at war. Although the aspect of it being a “shock and awe” tactic is now useless, because I don’t believe zombies know fear. But it can’t be on a speaker, because that is just a dinner bell, and your iPod has to be extremely low, in order to maintain at least rudimentary senses. I doubt zombies are gonna try to sneak up on you, they aren’t known to be the quietest of ghouls.
Logan on 26 Jun 2010 at 8:55 pm #
I’d use the “Diabolical Adrenaline Guitar” from the Half-life soundtrack for one of my zombie killing songs.
-ma-kay-la- on 05 Aug 2010 at 10:32 pm #
This is my first choice of songs, it’ll change as I hear different songs but this kinda a rough draft. 1. Headstrong by Trapt 2. Riot by Three Days Grace 3. Get Out Alive by Three Days Grace 3a. Alive (N’ Out Of Control) by Papa Roach 4. Time of Dying by Three Day Grace 4a. End of Me by Apacolyptic 4b. Last Resort by Papa Roach
