The Walking Dead
Did you dig the comic as much as I did? AMC is bringing it to life with “The Walking Dead” TV series, which drops on Halloween.
Waking up in an empty hospital after weeks in a coma, County Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) finds himself utterly alone. The world as he knows it is gone, ravaged by a zombie epidemic. The Walking Dead tells the story of the weeks and months that follow after the apocalypse. Based on Robert Kirkman’s hugely successful and popular comic book series, AMC’s new original series, The Walking Dead, premieres with a 90-minute episode on Halloween night: Oct. 31 at 10/9c.

The comic is amazing, and gives a very realistic view of what a potential zombie outbreak would do. It gets depressing as hell, but I suppose that’s to be expected.

I am pretty stoked about this show. I hope it is as good as the trailer looks.

Won’t be seeing it for a while here in aus I may try to watch online. Personly the intro sound simmilar to 28 days later. They fast or slow zeds ?
Angryvikingman on 24 Oct 2010 at 9:43 am #
Idk, you can’t really tell in the comic. The way they describe it, they manage somewhere between a slow walk to a slow jog. IDK what liberties they’ve taken so we won’t know until we see the show.

“AMC is bringing it to life with “The Walking Dead” TV series, which drops on Halloween.”
Small Typo, should be:
AMC is bringing it to life with “The Walking Dead” TV series, which drops on Walking Dead Premiere Day.”
Apparently you didn’t get the memo that Halloween has been renamed. :)

At ..sparks..: The only similarity between 28 days and walking dead is both of the main characters are in a coma and both wake up in a hospital. That’s it.
Anyways. I’m surprised that a walking dead trailer wasn’t posted sooner.

I did, a month ago.
You guys just don’t like my aftershave, that’s all.
Real men don’t pout, we just sull up and yell at our wives, “GET ME A SAMMICH, WOMAN!”

Funny, but sad.

Yeah, as someone said, “Its a horrible pile of fail.” Thats the worst, sad sack of crap “Survival List.” Of course, someone could be sewing it as disinformation so the stupid and weak are culled from the herd.

bad ass… somebody told me to get the comics, but I usually just collect graphic novels.. I might hafta by the comics if this is that good…

I would hope that most people would see that a monster truck wouldn’t be the best choice for a zombie apocalypse,
but some people really make you wonder…

I’ve seen the leaked first episode, funny cause I can’t even see the trailer that’s been posted(blocked in this country) , but it’s pretty dam good.

Pretty good!
Looks like they are sticking to the storyline pretty well.
I’m happy.

Is it the pinnacle of all zombie media? No, but it’s pretty damn entertaining and that’s all I’m looking at. Yes, I will be the first to stand up and take issue with his choice of armament and how he carries them, but then again…. It’s a bloody tv show, get over it. Besides, if AMC is doing a zombie show…. Well that just goes to prove that zombies are really becoming accepted in society and people are thinking about them.
I’m be watching the next week’s episode.
“They won’t get me they won’t get me thought they never cease to try
they won’t get me they won’t get me I would rather fight and die
they won’t get me they won’t get me well my friend will they get you?
when they get you when they get you tell me what are you gonna do?”

Perhaps he hopes to arm survivors?
I enjoyed the show, but about that opening…..
That was a LONG walk for a gallon of gas, past A LOT of cars.
The only LEO to ever not hear of stealing gas via siphon?
I’ll be tuning in next week, though.

Still not got round to watching this yet! Hoping it will shed some light on what’s happening here at Willow Mead though…

Its going to get more exciting pretty quick. So hang in there.

First time post. Awesome site. I agree with hm on the mile hike for gas but over all a well rounded show. We can’t be too critical with zombie entertainment or it would be boring. Anyone try to get the shuffler role?
Senzo on 01 Nov 2010 at 12:49 pm #
Yeah the Siphoning thing kind of threw me as well. It just makes sense. plus the can was way small. Over all I though they did a great job. The effects were better than alot of movies I’vre seen.
McLuvin on 01 Nov 2010 at 6:31 pm #
I think those cars were stranded there because they were out of gas. The Python wouldn’t be anywhere near my list of zombie guns.
He was obviously carrying a sack of long guns to arm others. I don’t see anything wrong with his duffel bag. I did catch at the road block, when he told the other deputy to have one in the chamber and take the safety off, it was a Glock. Typical Hollywood gun stuff.

Downloaded it and just finished watching . It looks ok , it feels more like a soap opera set in a zombie apocalypse . Also I would figure that there would be even more zombies around than there are . Hopefully it will get better , but I still prefer High School of the Dead . I will still watch it but if this turns into nothing more than a drama show with zombies in it I will likely lose interest pretty quick .

I like it, though tracking a zombie to stare at it was odd. And I will defend his right to use a wheelgun to the death and beyond(hehe).
McLuvin on 07 Nov 2010 at 8:07 pm #
I’ll defend revolvers as vociferously as anyone. Zombies are a different dilemma than normal. I want high capacity! A 6″ .357 is also a little overkill. The beretta from the tanker or a Glock from the police station would be better choices.

Really wanted to love it – bought a season pass on Apple TV – This is not turning into the Sopranos of Zombie survival. Lame to me – like the key going down the drain in episode 2 – or how clean and healthy everyone looks all the time!! People don’t look like that in the real world by midweek, uhhhh.

From what I have seen of the first two episode this looks like it will focus more on the people than on the zombies or surviving . It just feels like it will turn into a drama that focuses on the people and their new problems and it just has the zombies in the background as a constant but easy to avoid enemy .
I’ll stick with ” Highschool Of The Dead ” it seems more realistic to me in terms of how everything would just go to ^&$@ .

This past Saturday dozens of people organized through Facebook dressed up like walkers and shuffled their dead asses through Greenville. Can you imagine being oblivious to that knowledge when you stumble out of a bar on main St? My first first thought was. Damn. Not like this.
ronald on 18 Nov 2010 at 8:45 pm #
ya but its still good I love zombies and I believe that anyone to survive should have an axe
ronald on 29 Nov 2010 at 4:58 pm #
It was good but they passed up so many gun from the army if u look closely at the end of the most recent they have guns allover that they could have grabbed at least I would have
big bear29 on 01 Dec 2010 at 6:01 pm #
They do that in a lot of horror movies to if you pay attention to whats in the background , they avoid the gun and go for some melee weapon . I have seen tons of movies where there would be an m60 sitting on the ground but the character would pass it up for a shovel or a bat . They made fun of that in the third ” Scary Movie ” . The guys armed themselves with shovels and one of them had a pump-action shovel .

Yeah the not picking up dropped weapons in the Walking Dead is starting to irritate me. Especially around the CDC in Atlanta. Seriously?! There’s Ma Duece,M-4′s,looks like there would be plenty of ammo in the IBA’s of the dead GI’s and all kinds of excellent choices of equipment. (Yeah I know Ma Duece probablly would be your best choice, but it would be freakn awesome mounted in the back of a pickup.)
