Brownell’s has a Zombie preparedness center on their website as well. It’s nice to see major corporations give a little zombie love.
This ammo is good as a novelty, but it is too expensive for target use and could be questionable if used defensively. I don’t normally put much stock in arguments that reloads or Black Talons could be used against you in court, but the fact that this ammo has a disclaimer to not use it against humans could bite you in the ass.

Yeah, I got that email from Brownells too. I like those zombie hunter uppers and lowers. I’d love to build one out and give it away as a prize, but unless we get some corporate sponsors, then we’re a loooooong way from that.

I will definitely buy a bunch of these if they are available in my area. To be used only in case of…

Hey! I am Braydon, I’m new here. This is quite an excellent website! I look forward to future posts!
Since I live in Australia obtaining a firearm is quite a tedious task. The amount of paperwork you need to fill in just isn’t worth it, considering they only let you own .22s on the standard license.
But hey it’s always interesting to read about guns..

What exactly is this? Is this exactly like the A max ammo, because i am trying to figure out waht kind of tip is on it.. SST or SP? You need to tell us more information on this!
CompShooter on 14 Oct 2011 at 6:54 pm #
I have read in American rifleman about.some prosecutors using reloads as a angle to convict in criminal and civil suits. I don’t risk it with my carry gun, ain’t worth the hassle.
McLuvin on 14 Oct 2011 at 9:08 pm #
I think it’s the same as their Critical Defense ammo just with a green tip.
CompShooter on 14 Oct 2011 at 9:12 pm #
I want to pick up a couple boxes , dissect one Yand pack one away for possible collector’s value as long as ppl don’t all ha ve the same idea, then they end up worth very little.
Angryvikingman on 14 Oct 2011 at 9:42 pm #
I heard that the plastic tip glows in the dark. Idk what the shotgun shells do besides the obvious.
HMPlatinum on 15 Oct 2011 at 2:27 pm #
Cool marketing ploy, though I probably won’t buy. The commercial was a little annoying with Mr. Slick and his unsafe fingers and COM shots, but what can you expect (to be sure, you would hope for better from an ammo manufacturer).
@Braydon: How much paperwork is required for a .22?
Braydon on 15 Oct 2011 at 5:02 pm #
@HMPlatinum Let’s just say that there’s a tons of paperwork at the gun club, which you have to join if you want a firearm and then the numerous amounts of paperwork you have to fill in when you get interviews with the police. Not to mention tests of all sorts that the police give you. Plus they take a handsome sum of $$$ for even owning a firearm. :|

I love where I live.
Even more, now.
Braydon on 16 Oct 2011 at 6:31 pm #
@HMPlatinum You truly live in a great land. I am actually considering going for a license though, because let’s face it, firearms will be the difference between surviving or dying in the zombie apocalypse.

I’m pretty sure someone ripped off my idea for the wheen of pain style zombie powered electric generator from this site and entered it into another contest. random yes, but I’m a little peeved.

Tip does not glow. I went downstairs and held one up to a lamp and checked after reading Angryvikingmas’s post.

Should you aren’t playing well, the sport just isn’t as much fun. When you do I tell myself in order to decide to play while i did after i was a kid.
Concerning the time we can make the ends meet, somebody moves the ends.

so, what makes them “zombie rounds” its just a novelty thing right?
Trevor on 31 May 2012 at 12:52 pm #
The z-max rounds are nothing more than Hornady’s A-max round, just with a green polymer tip. A high quality round regardless. Not sure I’d spend the money on them just to plink with though… But I would have no issue carrying those as a defensive round. Against the dead or living.
Alex on 06 Jun 2012 at 1:47 pm #
rather just have the plain rounds with a metal tip instead of polymer…
Angryvikingman on 09 Jun 2012 at 9:02 am #
@Alex
Maybe you should do some research into how they work.
TEOATTC on 14 Sep 2012 at 3:01 pm #
Im sure its a very capable round, but too expensive for practice or stockpiling when most any round will also get the job done. More expansion with the polymer tip than a fmj, but hollow points are still cheaper. More of a novelty than anything else. Zombies wont care how cool you look with your green zombie gun and matching ammo. That bright green may even be easier for them to see you instead of you being able to blend in with your surroundings.(see zombie experiments…too risky?)
